Chiang Rai Family Trip

Honestly speaking I didn't expect to go on a trip with my paternal family members because we were all so busy and hardly meet a few times a year! Nevertheless it was really fun as we grew to accommodate and know each other better while enjoying ourselves throughout the trip!

Many people have not heard or been to Chiang Rai (majority only know Chiang Mai and Bangkok) but if not for my dad's brother's wife (whom I call Second Aunt), we wouldn't be able to explore this safe, peaceful and beautiful place!

As she went back to her hometown in Chiang Rai, we tagged along and checked out many cool places! The temperature was quite low - ranging from 8 deg to 23 deg, but in the day it was mostly 23 deg so I would say it's the best time to travel in December!

Unfortunately as we didn't stay through the weekend, we only managed to check out the Friday night marketing located near the clock tower!

My aunt (姑姑) managed to secure two rooms at this interesting and lovely homestay which only costs us about SGD 600 for 4 nights and 7 people!

Na Na Doo Homestay

My family stayed on the second level with my cousin and we have a really cool balcony with a hammock! There are also many amenities like a pool with Jacuzzi, trampoline, and more hammocks and some bicycles for us to ride around the area!

Every morning we have freshly made American breakfast and I swear I did not grow tired of eating the same thing every day!

If you want, you can also rent an entire house by itself! Unfortunately we weren't quick enough...

We roamed around in the morning and took some nice pictures!

The sunset from the second level was amazing too!

On our first day we had our first meal at this 5-star restaurant but sad to say I lost the name of it so I can't recommend it to you guys...

But the food was really awesome - living up to the 5-star rating!

We went to this temple that has a really huge Guan Yin statue near our homestay!

The next temple we went is the blue temple - really blue from top to bottom!

I was checking out places to have meals at and came across this really gorgoeous European-styled cafe! They serve both Thai and Western cuisine!

Not forgetting the legendary white temple as well!

We checked out the Singha Park where they produced malt for their Singha beer! It's more than just a park - you can rent bikes to cycle around the huge place, bury yourself among the huge tea plantation, or be a daredevil and try out their 4-5 storey high zip line!

We headed to another tea plantation and they are mostly growing Green Tea leaves there, so there is a cafe selling all Green Tea flavoured food which we did not manage to try :(

We checked out this really cool garden - literally like Gardens by the Bay!

Did some shopping at the markets near the border between Thailand and Myanmar located at the Northern most part of Thailand!

Dropped by for a visit at my Second Aunt's hometown!

Managed to squeeze in some time to hike up a 1.4 KM high waterfall!
